I often start my days with an omelet and two mangoes as breakfast. A morning habit that kicked off this reflection! Getting tired of the egg carton packaging that get wet in the fridge overtime, the idea here was to design a permanent egg holder. A sculptural and functional piece that will last forever in and outside the fridge.
The inspiration for the design comes from the iconic emblem of the hand holding an egg of the King BÉHANZIN of Benin. An imagery that literally rocked my childhood. As a result, the final product becomes an abstract representation of that emblem (image 5). Where form, function, poetry and deep story meet. This can carry 12 eggs.
