The Hand Flatware Set

In Benin (West Africa) where I from, the majority of people still eat with their hands. That tactile contact with the food creates a sort of powerful relationship with what you put in your mouth.

The question for this reflection was: How to create that feeling of eating with hands via a flatware set ??

The solution was to make a set (spoon, knife, fork) that takes inspiration from all the bones, that makes hands anatomy possible (phalanges, metacarpals, carpals..etc). The set becomes an abstract representation of a hand in action.

Furthermore, the materiality (solid Aluminium 6061-T6, milled from a single block; mirror finishing) emphasizes the feeling of eating by hand due to his high thermal conductivity. It is almost possible to feel the temperature of the food while eating with this set.
Rethink for uses, this flatware set makes eating a conscious act.
